EMPOWAVE Launches a Labour Market Research Study in Beddawi and Nahr El-Bared Camps
EMPOWAVE has launched a comprehensive Labour Market Research Study in Beddawi and Nahr El-Bared Palestinian camps in North Lebanon to support evidence-based programming and strengthen future youth employment and skills development interventions.
The study aims to generate reliable data and practical insights into employment challenges, skills gaps, labour market needs, and potential economic opportunities. The findings will contribute to designing targeted programmes that better connect youth skills and aspirations with actual labour market demand.
A Participatory and Evidence-Based Research Approach
The Labour Market Research Study is being implemented through a structured and participatory process that engages youth, community members, experts, employers, and key stakeholders.
Research Design and Data Collection Tools
EMPOWAVE developed the research methodology, target groups, questionnaires, and data collection tools to ensure a systematic assessment of the local labour market and employment environment.
Field Surveys with Youth and Community Members
Field surveys are conducted in Beddawi and Nahr El-Bared camps to assess employment status, educational backgrounds, professional skills, training needs, and the main barriers young people face in accessing employment opportunities.
Focus Group Discussions (FGDs)
EMPOWAVE conducts Focus Group Discussions with youth and relevant community groups to explore their experiences, perceptions, and challenges related to employment and skills development.
The discussions provide deeper qualitative insights into youth aspirations, job-search barriers, training priorities, and perceptions of available employment opportunities. FGDs also create a space for participants to propose ideas and practical solutions based on their lived experiences.
Interviews with Experts and Key Stakeholders
In-depth interviews and consultations are conducted with labour market experts, civil society organizations, community representatives, and relevant institutions. These interviews help identify structural employment challenges, labour market trends, and opportunities for future interventions.
Engagement with Employers and Business Owners
Employers and local business owners are consulted to better understand workforce needs, in-demand skills, recruitment challenges, and potential employment opportunities. This engagement helps identify the gap between available youth skills and actual market demand.
Data Analysis and Skills Gap Assessment
Quantitative and qualitative data collected through surveys, interviews, and Focus Group Discussions will be analysed to identify labour market trends, skills gaps, employment barriers, and potential sectors for economic opportunity.
Validation of Research Findings
Preliminary findings will be reviewed and discussed with relevant stakeholders to validate the results, integrate diverse perspectives, and strengthen the accuracy and relevance of the final recommendations.
Final Labour Market Research Report
The project will conclude with the development of a comprehensive Labour Market Research Report presenting key findings, identified skills gaps, and action-oriented recommendations.
The report will support the development of future employment, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and youth upskilling programmes and provide a foundation for collaboration with donors, NGOs, institutions, and private-sector partners.
